Addiction Treatment and Recovery in Pregnancy and Parenting: Science and Collaborative Care
Event Description
We will review the history of substance use in pregnancy with particular attention to opioids. We will discuss medications for opioid use disorder, with emphasis on parenting and recovery. Basic principles of care will be contrasted with the actual landscape of available services. The role of collaborative care and the importance of the MAT provider will be stressed, in particular with the development of Family Care Plans and the postpartum period. Overall, the talk will be grounded in best medical practice and respect for human dignity.
