Every Family Has a Story - Using Documentation to Capture the EI Journey

Event Description

High-quality Early Intervention documentation should tell the story of a child and family’s journey—from their initial concerns and priorities to the supports provided, the progress made, and the changes that occur along the way. Meaningful documentation helps ensure that the family’s voice, priorities, and experiences remain at the center of the Early Intervention process.

This webinar, presented at the September 2026 Ohio Association of County Boards (OACB) EI Forum, provided an overview of Ohio EI documentation requirements, offered practical strategies for creating and reviewing documentation as part of ongoing service coordination and monitoring, and explored how providers and Early Intervention Service Coordinators (EISCs) can use documentation to create a clear, cohesive picture of the child and family’s experience in EI. The presentation outlines how to ensure that the documentation tells the family’s story, reflects the quality and purpose of EI services, supports collaboration across the team, and demonstrates that services continue to be responsive to the child’s and family’s evolving needs.
